Eligibilty:
Organization membership is for lake associations, lake districts and other non-profit organizations related to Wisconsin’s lakes, rivers and watersheds. More than 300 lake organizations rely on Wisconsin Lakes for technical assistance, legal resources, and collective policy representation.

Technical and Legal Assisitance
- For Districts: Access specialized advice on Chapter 33 compliance, public meeting and notice legalities, annual meeting preparation, commissioner roles and responsibilities, budget development, special assessment procedures, and interfacing effectively with local town or county boards.
- For Associations: Support for organizational governance, including drafting and revising non-profit bylaws, maintaining 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status, managing board elections, structuring volunteer insurance, and executing effective member recruitment and fundraising campaigns.
Team Communication
- Designate up to ten (10) local board/committee members to receive “The Lake Connection” e-periodical filled with organizational tips and case studies.
- Keep all of your local leaders tuned in to relevant news and happenings in Madison and the elsewhere in the state.
Directors & Officers Insurance
- As a member your organization is eligible to join a Directors & Officers (D&O) Insurance umbrella policy through WI Lakes.
- Our policy rates are negotiated with the Horton Group specifically for member lake organizations and make it much easier to get coverage for your local organization.
