Wisconsin Lakes is pleased to announce that Susan Trier of Lake Mills was elected as President of the Wisconsin Lakes Board of Directors. Trier takes over for Dan Butkus, who resigned earlier this year due to health issues.
Trier joined the Wisconsin Lakes board in 2021 and has served on several committees during her tenure. She is also the current president of the Rock Lake Improvement Association and a Crew 13 graduate of the Wisconsin Lake Leaders Institute.
Reflecting on her election to lead the organization, she remarked, “I’ve worked on many of the issues facing our members including shoreline restoration, stormwater management, introducing woody structures for fish habitat, advocating for recreational boating ordinances, educational outreach (turtles, dragonflies, bats etc.), early detection AIS monitoring, and aquatic plant point intercept surveys, so I understand the challenges our community is facing.”
Trier takes the reins at a time of change for Wisconsin Lakes, as the organization seeks a new Executive Director to replace the outgoing Mike Engleson, and embarks on an effort to improve and expand its offerings to its organizational members while maintaining a focus on advocacy and education about lake and water related issues.
“This is a challenging but exciting time for Wisconsin Lakes,” remarked Trier, “and I look forward to working with all of our members, organizational and individual, to build an effective association that meets their needs and accomplishes our mission.”
